The columbarium was designed to permit increasing capacity, as needed. Currently, there is a single urn insert, with a capacity for eighty niches. The walls are designed to hold a total of six inserts with a total capacity of 840 niches. Each niche can contain two urns. The columbaria walls face each other across a shaded and enclosed courtyard.
Full or half niches may be purchased. Prices include the niche, urns and granite face plates, with names
and date of birth and death engraved.
Certain special rules apply to half niches. Call the parish administrator, (305) 852-8468, for details.
Memorial Wall Information
The memorial garden has a memorial wall located between the facing columbaria. The wall permits families of those buried at sea, or buried in a location elsewhere, to be remembered with a granite plaque. The plaques are engraved with gold lettering and the granite matches that of the columbarium plaques. The plaques are uniform and allow the name of the deceased and the birth and death years. Call the parish administrator, (305) 852-8468, for purchase prices.
Generally, plaques for the
memorial wall and niches, urns and face plaques can be obtained within
three weeks of ordering. Payment is required at the time of
ordering and the purchaser may select any available niche.
Inclusion Policy
Niches and memorial plaques are
offered without regards to religious preference or any other
discriminator. There is no requirement for parish membership or
residency in the Florida Keys. Saint James recognizes that burial
opportunities are very limited in the Florida Keys and it was the
express intent and desire of the parish governing body, the vestry, to
establish a memorial garden and columbarium opened to all as an
outreach to the community.
Call the parish administrator, 305.852.8468, for additional information.
